The Quest!

Hi. As you probably already know, I love to ride and race bikes. I have competed in road racing for a few years but last year found my true calling...Cyclocross! Cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing that consists of many laps of a short fast course featuring pavement, grass, steep hills, mud, and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount in one motion.

See video clip for an example of a cross race...

I raced cross last season for the first time in the Category 4 division (Beginners). I had a very successful season with victories in the last 2 races of the season. This year I will be moving up in category racing in the competitive 35+ 3/4 division and this blog will follow my quest to make it on to the podium (Top 5 finishers) for these races. I hope you can check-in each week to see how I did and maybe offer some words of encouragement.
My first race is Sunday, Sept. 20 in Baltimore at Druid Hill Park!
